Books: 6 Month Willoughby Book Club Review

For Christmas I was absolutely amazed to find out that Bob had bought me a subscription to the Willoughby Book Club. I was completely not expecting this to be my Christmas present and must have had such a confused look on my face when I opened a brown cardboard parcel addressed to myself. I had no idea what was inside but it said Willoughby Book Club on the outside. Amazingly, I had never heard of WBC, or indeed a book subscription service but I was so intrigued. After opening the cardboard, I found a green tissue paper parcel in the shape of a book, tied with a string and with a little gift tag. In that first parcel was also an 'I <3 WBC' badge, a bookmark and a little card welcoming me to the book club. This was the most perfect present for me and I love that Bob just knew that. It's the most thoughtful gift anyone's given me.
The Willoughby Book Club is a monthly book subscription service located in the small Leicestershire village of Willoughby Waters, hence the name. There are different subscription services available such as: contemporary, classic, cooking, natural history, young adult and children's to name a few - something for every taste. You can choose between a 3, 6 or 12 month subscription and the prices vary between each option. Bob got me the contemporary subscription for 6 months, but if I liked it he promised to extend it another 6 months. When ordering, you fill in the details of who the subscription is for including: their name, a personalised message, their gender, your relationship to them, their favourite authors and anything else they ought to know. Bob gave them my Goodreads information as I keep all my bookshelves up-to-date on there and it ensures they don't send me a book I already own. If they do send you one you already own or have read, you can email them and they will send you a different one. Perfect!

I am so, so happy with this service and at the start of every month I get so excited to find out which book will be on my door step. I can't recommend it enough and I seriously hope that this is a present people will be buying me for years (hint). I thought I would write an overview of the books that I have received over the six month period to give you an idea of the variety. I have read four of these books and have written reviews for three, so check them out if you wish.
